Horses at The Broken Arrow |
 |
Here at The Broken Arrow, we have enjoyed a working relationship with our Arabian, part-Arabian Spanish Mustang cross and Paint horses. We enjoy their beauty, good nature, and common sense that comes with the bloodlines of their performance ancestry. With the Arabians, we have a tendency to appreciate the working abilities of *Witez II and Ofir bloodlines, which are Polish bred horses. We also like the Crabbet bred and Raffles bloodline from Great Britain. In our opinion, horses with these bloodlines often turn out to be good sensible working horses, that often are able to live a long useful life.
Many of our horses are offered for sale, as we are a ranch with our livelihood depending on the sale of livestock we raise. But we will just continue working with those unsold, as they are our ranch horses. All our horses are stake out broke after weanling age. They are use to being with cattle, as they are usually wintered with our herd bulls during winters months, so know how to watch out for themselves and how to manage with being around average natured bulls. Their summer pasture is a ranch/cattle type of pasture with barbwire fencing, so they are also familiar with that type of fencing.

Syndi came to the ranch in Nov. of 2002, at 16 months of age. A pretty little mare with a pedigree rich with Polish bloodlines. Her sire is a handsome fellow, very typey, with a good nature. He was a Yearling Sweepstakes Futurity Champion, a class A Champion, a Regional Top Ten Halter Horse, and more recently a Most Classic Champion.
Syndi's dam is a good natured horse reported gentle enough for beginner kids to ride, plus a good broodmare. We are looking forward to having Syndi raise an occasional foal for us. We are undecided to have her broke to ride yet, but she has a very friendly personality. We have started her ground training including stake out training.
Syndi has several Polish lines including some lines to *Witez II / Ofir. Syndi is a good caring mother and milker. She has a nice bay 2008 filly at side by a linebred "Ofir" pure Polish homozygous black stallion owned by Witez Black Arabians, EOPOLUS. EOPOLUS is Sweepstakes Nominated and by +OPUS ONE. Click Here to see her fancy 2007 filly out of the same stallion, which we also offer for sale.

Barbie was delivered to the ranch by her breeder, as a pretty little weanling. She is registered with a color breed registry, the Palomino Horse Assoc. Even now at age 12, she still has her beautiful dapples. She is sired by a registered Spanish Mustang and could have been registered as a half Spanish Mustang. Out of a registered IAHA 7/8 Arabian-1/8 Quarter Horse palomino mare. She has a strong female line of palominos on her dam side. She has one line to *Witez II / Ofir.
Barbie was broke to ride as a three year old, and obviously was going to make a nice non-spooky sensible saddle horse. One day our herd bulls got into a disagreement and pushed each other out of the corral, leaving a big hole. Barbie and another gelding we use to have, went through and made bee-line to our feed lot grain wagon. Of course helping themselves to the goodies until they could barely swallow. So, when discovered, a quick trip to the Vet. for mineral oil and shots. The new young Vet. that treated them, goofed up and got a little mineral oil in Barbie's lungs. Well, she didn't founder, but the chronic lung problems as result of the mineral oil treatment ruined her lungs. She now has shortness of breath, and a chronic cough. So, with the permanent lung damage caused by the mineral oil, we were forced to change her career from saddle pony to broodmare.
We have enjoyed some very nice foals from her so far. The first two were sired by Witez Black Arabians deceased herd sire, El Nigadin. A palomino filly was first, and a black colt the following year. The palomino filly was sold to Witez Black Arabians as a yearling, and the black colt was sadly lost to colic before a year of age. Barbie had 2003, 2004, and 2006 foals sired by a son of El Nigadin: Nickoli Witez BA, a typey red chestnut, owned by the Trauger family. All three were chestnut colts. Barbie's 2007 solid dark color (maybe black or dark buckskin) colt is by a linebred "Ofir" pure Polish homozygous black stallion, EOPOLUS, owned by Witez Black Arabians. We will be giving Barbie a 1 year rest, so will not be breeding her for a 2008 foal, but we plan to breed her in 2008.

Breeder: El-Jean Arabians

Snip was purchased as a two year old from friends after a brief but successful halter career. Very good natured, and a willing worker, he quickly became a favorite cow horse with his quiet ways and patience while working cattle. The last 20+ years he has been a great companion for both work or play. Whether sorting stock in the corral, moving stock to pasture, doing drill team maneuvers, loading his saddle down with duffle bags to carry, or simply carrying Old Glory in a parade, Snip could handle the job. Good sound legs that have done lots of work without leg wraps most of the time and still no splints nor arthritis. Just a Blessing to have, and a tribute to his good breed, breeder and bloodlines.
Snip has been battling Melanoma (skin cancer) since 15 years of age, a common affliction of the grey color Arabians. As an aged gelding, he still holds his own in full Arabian style, whether at work or at play. He has a lot of Crabett breeding, including some Polish breeding and a line to *Witez II / Ofir. |

Our daughter, has a passion for tri-color paints, so, Poncho was acquire at 8 years of age. He came from the Bismarck, ND area. Tipping our cattle scale at a hefty 1,460 pounds, he seems like a giant when his bone/muscle/size is compared with our Arabians. During a parade this flashy marked gelding draws admiration from the Parade lookers. He certainly makes an outstanding, colorful, attention getting mount to carry "Old Glory" on!
We are mostly using Poncho for trail riding and drill team, we game him only once or twice a year at local horse shows. He can move fast and powerful for a short distance. He could get good with more practice, is familiar with barrels, poles, key hole, flag race, novelty with jumps, and has been a money winner in ring race with hardly no practice, as he's not normally spooky running along arena rail. But he can get nervous if pushed to hard without proper introduction/training to an event. We ride him to keep him calm as first priority, and we don't game him often.
Unfortunately after we had him several months our daughter found him to much horse to handle. So I the mother, have ridden him the last two years, and I like the big guy. But the predisone from my asthma meds often make the knee pain bad when I have to ride on his big rib cage. Because of knee pain, I need to go back to my narrower Arabians for my regular riding.
Poncho is SOLD.

Magnum was purchased from his past owners in WA, through his breeder in ND. He came here as a weanling and went to a professional Parilli style trainer the summer of 2002 for the saddle. By 2003 he had a good start on him for a saddle horse with 2 1/2 months with the trainer plus many rides here on the ranch, but still needs more miles and riding. I have done a lot of despook ground training on him, which has helped him a lot. Unfortunately since then, I haven't been able to advance his experiences enough, due to an injury I received from a cow charge, health problems with asthma, and an other serious injury from a bad spill off another horse in 2007. However Magnum did spend July and part of Aug. 2007, being rode daily by a ND rancher/trainer, when I couldn't ride him. So, his training-experiences were not at a stand still.
Magnum is normally easy to catch and friendly, having a good people loving nature. He is stake out broke, which will come in handy when on trails rides and camping out. Good looking stout muscled fellow, with nice legs, short strong back, and nice depth of rib. He has extremely beautiful tail carriage. He has the good Arabian stamina that an endurance horse needs. He just needs some more riding experiences on him.
His pedigree is very good with a few lines to *Witez II / Ofir. Offering him for sale at $5,000.00. Will consider selling a custom built 17" seat roper saddle with him. Magnum has an extra wide shoulder blade like many Arabians have at wither top and short back, this saddle tree was custom cut to have an extra width in throat of gullet and shorter bar length for his back.

Flint has nice soft eyes, and long legs. He has an easy going disposition that we just love to work with. We have done a lot of fun ground obstacle work and sacking out on him, prior to his going to a trainer. He seemed to always enjoy the new things he's learned.
He is stake out broke, loads in a trailer well, leads calmly over blue poly-tarp and other types of more natural trail obstacles. Normally cautious without being overly spooky. He has a willing, easy going nature and does not act herd bound, seems just as happy and content with the human he is with.
Flint is mostly Egyptian and Russian breeding with some Polish breeding, including one line to *Witez II. / Ofir. He has a lot of Pritzlaff Ranch Egyptian breeding. The Pritzlaff bred horses are known for their intelligence and extra special people personalities. Pritzlaff horses love being with people and their intelligence makes them curious and looking forward to what happens next. The Pritzlaff horses often make good cattle horses, as they were bred for that. Flint has the renown Pritzlaff personality.
Flint is offered for sale for half the price he should be offered for, due to his scarred hoof, he will probably require shoes on the front if rode a lot on rocky ground. He also does not do well on sweet feeds, maybe glucose intolerant??? He does very well on natural hay, forage, and grains.
Flint is a loveable fellow who loves attention, could make a nice horse for girl or lady, his buyer should enjoy his friendly curious personality. Price: Make an offer, we may consider it! He got to tall to get on with my bad knees, not easy for me to get back on him out at pastures after opening gates, I'll have to stick to shorter horses.
