From the known for long life Crabbet bloodlines, a purebred Arabian, bred by El-Jean Arabians. As a two year old, with a short but successful show career, Snip came to our ranch and became a ranch horse. As a good ranch horse, he became "A Keeper".
God truly Blessed us with "Snip" for the rest of his long life. For 21 yrs. he was Linda's favorite cowhorse, drill team horse and trail horse. And for 7 more years he was semi-retired to being Dede's "special" mount.
Diagnosed with a serious melanoma condition at age 15, he continued to live many useful years. Many more useful years past what his Veterinarian thought he could...he was truly one of God's many Blessings: (read poem following....)
God looked upon the green earth
And saw your pretty but tired face.
So in an instant in Divine pastures,
He prepared yet another special place.God knew you carried your riders safely,
Surefooted in the mud at cattle A.I. time.
If a cowdog nipped your heels by mistake,
You'd shake your head, but still hold the line.
God knew of the many cows and calves you sorted,
And of the countless drill team drills.
The weanling foals you gently taught good manners,
The many miles of trails, wagon trains, and parade thrills.
God saw how 7 years you carried someone "Special",
And just how you carefully handled the deed.
He saw how you remained trustworthy,
Even when confusing cues were received.
God saw the trails were getting rougher,
Hills had gotten much to hard to climb.
And the chore of moving cows to pasture,
Well...you would still do it, even though well past your prime.
For every creature there is a Divine purpose,
And God Divinely knew the place and time.
It broke our hearts to loose your gentle spirit,
When God gently whispered to us, "Peace be thine".So when you closed your tired ol'eyelids
You did not leave us by going ahead alone.
For there's a part of us you took with you,
The day God took you to your new home.Snipper.....Our family will be.....Missing you!
